  • I have one photoresistor giving continuos reading of the light level. I did this using Serial.print() command.
  • Now I need to connect all 4 photoresistors so I can proceed.
  • Here is a screenshot of one photoresistor giving continous reading of the light level.
  • Concerns:

    =====

    Dr. Baharav comment: Goal is to have the photoresistor give reliable reading of light/dark. By March-2nd let's have at least one photoresistor give a continous reading of light level. If this is too simple, we do need to have 4 photoresistors connected, so you can proceed to this. But at minimum we need a photoresistor reading which is reliable and consistent.

    Updated: Feb-23-2018

    We finished the breadboard radio, however we still could not receive a signal. We've ordered ceramic disk capacitors, which were included in the schematic we were basing our radio off of, and that may fix the problem. If that doesn't work, we'll try to measure the frequency it's broadcasting at using the osciloscope.

    Concerns:

    There is a chance our radio is broadcasting successfully but the signal is too weak to be received or is on a frequency most receivers can't tune to. We can most likely solve these problems, but it's hard to figure out what the issue actually is.

    =====

    Dr. Baharav comment: You are now doing the breadboard version. If this one deosn't work, we have a 30MHz scope (osciloscope) sitting in my room, on the floor, next to the window. This can be used to measure oscilation, voltage, current, etc. Let's try and debug the breadboard version before jumping on to on to a different design. On track

    Updates:

    • Finished the back seat
    • Back Seat

    Concerns:

    • The steering loosens up over time. We aren't sure of a fix
    • We need to meet as a group of 4 and decide how to design the back

    =====

    Dr. Baharav comment: Let's make sure we are moving beyond the steering. We also have the motor, throttle, and drive-train to put in. By March-2nd let's have some mechanism to steer. Even if it is TWO handles that the driver pull/push directly on the front-wheel axel. This will enable part of the team to move forward to work on the motor, while others still try to get a better steering solution.

  • Fixed the design for the doorbell base. It is currently printing, and appears to be working fine. Once it is printed I will need to align it with my receiver base in order to see if it fits properly.
  • Looking into making a new pushbutton that will look cooler than the default, but other than a little searching, not much progress has been made.
  • Concerns:

    The reciever was completely broken, so I had to order a new one, this will set back the end date by a few days

    Updated: Feb-09-2018

    We're currently working on constructing a new radio using a breadboard to give us more control. We're getting close to completing and testing it, but we aren't quite there yet.

    Concerns:

    We weren't able to pick up the signal with our last attempt, and there's a chance we still won't be able to even using the breadboard. While it will be much easier to make adjustments to the broadcasting antenna, there is a chance we still won't be able to find the signal. We'll work on that issue if it comes up.

    Updates:

    • We began constructing the steering:
    • There has been a major setback this week. Every time we built a new steering system, it would either break or not function properly.

      Here is an example of steering we made. This design has far too much slack and the turning of the wheels does not respond quickly enough to input from the steering shaft.

    Concerns:

    • Steering is proving much harder to make than we originally thought.

      We may not have this done in time for testing.

    Concerns:

    Earlier, I had the servo rotate 360 degrees at once using servo.write(), and that was too much, so I was worried that one of the motors were broken as a result. I will learn to not do more than 180 for next time.

    Concerns:

    We may have incorrectly assembled the radio, but it's very hard to tell what the problem is. It may take a long time to debug. We're considering starting over and using a breadboard, which will be easier to control.
